Ifosym 1gm Injection

Ifosym 1gm Injection is an anticancer medication classified as an alkylating agent, containing the active ingredient Ifosfamide. It is indicated for treatment of bladder inflammation and cancers of soft tissues, germ cells, pancreas and cervix. This drug should not be used if patients have an allergic reaction to Ifosfamide or any of its components. The medication may cause severe bone marrow suppression, resulting in low white blood cell count or low platelet count due to chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Patients should wait three months before starting treatment with this drug if they have received a live virus vaccine for measles, mumps, rubella or chickenpox. Use with caution is advised in patients with severe kidney or liver disease. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications or plan to use over-the-counter medicines or herbal products, as your doctor will evaluate the risk of interaction with this medication. Do not use Ifosym 1gm Injection if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby, as it causes harm to an unborn fetus. Your healthcare practitioner will conduct a pregnancy test before starting treatment with Ifosym 1gm Injection. Discuss with your doctor effective birth control methods and use them for at least two weeks following the last dose. Breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment with this drug as it may pass into breast milk in small amounts.

It works by damaging the DNA in cancer cells, which leads to cell death and slows the growth and spread of cancer. Mostly, this involves the formation of reactive metabolites in the liver, which are then transported to cancer cells in the body. These metabolites react with the DNA in the cancer cells, causing cross-links and breaks in the DNA strands. This interferes with the replication and transcription of DNA, leading to cell death.

It will be given to you by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic setting trained in cancer chemotherapy. It is given as an intravenous infusion drip (into your vein). Do not self-administer the injection. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of the treatment based on your disease severity, body weight, and other factors.

This injection may cause severe birth defects if taken during pregnancy. Female patients with reproductive potential should use effective contraception during the treatment. Male patients with female partners with reproductive potential should use effective birth control methods during the treatment and for at least 5 months after their last dose. Do not breastfeed during treatment with this injection. Your doctor may advise you to take certain tests to check for the effectiveness of the therapy. Ifosym 1gm Injection may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision, so it is important to avoid driving. It's important to avoid consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice while taking this injection because this can lead to increased levels of the drug in your body and a higher risk of side effects. If you miss a dose of Ifosym 1gm Injection and it is close to the time for your next scheduled dose, you should skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. It is not recommended to take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
