Product Introduction
Ifowem 2gm injection is an anticancer medication belonging to the alkylating agents class, containing ifosfamide as the active ingredient. It is indicated for treatment of bladder inflammation and cancers of the soft tissues, germ cell, pancreas, and cervix. Do not use this medication if you have experienced an allergic reaction to ifosfamide or any of its components. Ifowem 2gm injection may cause severe bone marrow suppression, resulting in low white blood cell count or low platelet count as a consequence of chemotherapy or radiation therapy. If you have received a live virus vaccine such as measles, mumps, rubella, or chickenpox, wait three months before beginning treatment with this medication. Use this medication with caution in patients with severe kidney or liver disease. Inform your doctor of all other medications you are taking and before using over-the-counter medicines or herbal products, as your doctor will evaluate the risk of interaction with this medication. Do not use this medication if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Ifowem 2gm injection is unsafe during pregnancy as it causes harm to the unborn fetus. Your healthcare provider will conduct a pregnancy test before you start treatment. Discuss with your doctor effective birth control methods and use them for at least two weeks following the last dose. Breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment with this medication as it may pass into breast milk in small amounts.
Uses
Hemorrhagic cystitis (bladder inflammation) Soft tissue cancer Germ cell cancer Pancreatic cancer Cervical cancer
How it works
It works by damaging the DNA in cancer cells, which leads to cell death and slows the growth and spread of cancer. Mostly, this involves the formation of reactive metabolites in the liver, which are then transported to cancer cells in the body. These metabolites react with the DNA in the cancer cells, causing cross-links and breaks in the DNA strands. This interferes with the replication and transcription of DNA, leading to cell death.
How to Use
It will be given to you by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic setting trained in cancer chemotherapy. It is given as an intravenous infusion drip (into your vein). Do not self-administer the injection. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of the treatment based on your disease severity, body weight, and other factors.
