Product Introduction

Intacept 25mg Injection contains etanercept as its active component. It is known commercially as Enbrel and functions as a TNF inhibitor used to treat various autoimmune conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder characterised by chronic inflammation of the joints, leading to pain, swelling, and potential joint deformity. Psoriatic arthritis is an inflammatory joint condition occurring in some individuals with psoriasis, leading to joint pain, stiffness, and swelling. Ankylosing spondylitis is a type of arthritis that primarily affects the spine, causing pain, stiffness, and potential fusion of the vertebrae, leading to reduced flexibility. Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is a group of chronic arthritic conditions affecting children under 16, causing joint inflammation, pain, and potential damage. Intacept 25mg Injection suppresses the immune system's overactive response and reduces inflammation, effectively improving the symptoms of these chronic inflammatory diseases. The medication carries potential side effects which may include injection site reactions, infections, headaches, and allergic reactions. Intacept 25mg Injection can be prescribed for paediatric and elderly patients. It is approved for use in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis and, when appropriately administered, can be beneficial in managing symptoms in older adults affected by autoimmune diseases. Cautious monitoring and individualised treatment plans are essential for paediatric and elderly patients to optimise safety and effectiveness.

How it works

Intacept 25mg Injection's mechanism of action involves its role as a tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitor. By binding to circulating TNF-alpha and acting as a decoy receptor, this medication disrupts the inflammatory signaling pathway, suppressing immune cell activation and reducing the production of inflammatory cytokines. This neutralization of TNF-alpha effectively mitigates inflammation, making it highly effective.

Intacept side effects like all medications, although not everyone will experience them. Serious: Serious infections Tuberculosis (TB) reactivation Hepatitis B reactivation Neurological events Allergic reactions Common: Injection site reactions Upper respiratory infections Headache Nausea
