Invanz 1gm Injection

Categories: Urology

Conditions: Antibacterials

Product Introduction

Invanz 1gm injection is a carbapenem antibiotic containing ertapenem as its active ingredient. It is used to treat bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, including skin, lung, urinary, and gynaecological infections. This injection is also used for prevention of surgical site infections.

Invanz 1gm injection is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to other beta-lactam antibiotics, such as penicillins or cephalosporins. The drug should be used cautiously or avoided in such patients.

Ertapenem can reduce serum concentrations of valproic acid, a medication used to treat seizures and certain mental health conditions, potentially leading to decreased effectiveness of valproic acid. If patients are taking valproic acid, their healthcare provider may need to adjust the dose or consider alternative treatments.

Use of this medicine has been associated with Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea (CDAD) and colitis, including severe antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Patients experiencing severe or bloody stools while taking this injection should inform their doctor.

Before taking Invanz 1gm injection, patients should discuss their medical history with their doctor. They should inform their doctor if they have allergic conditions, kidney disease, or if they are on a salt-controlled diet, as these factors may require special consideration or monitoring during treatment.

Patients who suspect pregnancy or plan to have a baby should inform their doctor about all medications they have been taking recently, including herbal products and supplements.

How it works

Invanz 1gm Injection (Ertapenem) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat severe bacterial infections, including complicated intra-abdominal, skin, urinary tract, and pneumonia infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, effectively killing the bacteria and preventing their growth. This injection is particularly useful for infections resistant to other antibiotics and is often administered in hospitals under medical supervision. Invanz also helps reduce the risk of infection-related complications, promoting faster recovery and improved patient outcomes.

How to Use

Invanz 1gm injection will be administered to you by a healthcare professional in a hospital setting. It is usually administered as an intravenous injection into a vein. Your doctor will decide the dose, route of administration, and frequency based on your disease condition and other factors.

Expert Tips

Overuse or misuse of antibiotics can contribute to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. It is important to use this drug only as prescribed and directed by your physician. Attend any scheduled follow-up appointments with your healthcare provider to monitor your improvement and discuss any doubts or queries you may have regarding your treatment with Invanz 1gm injection. While this drug is generally well-tolerated, it can cause side effects in some individuals. If you get serious side effects, like severe diarrhea, rash, or difficulty breathing, notify your doctor immediately. It is highly advised not to skip the dose schedules as it may decrease the drug's effectiveness and increase the chance of bacteria developing resistance. It is generally suggested to complete the full treatment schedule as your doctor prescribes.
