Product Introduction
Jakavi 20mg tablet contains ruxolitinib, a kinase inhibitor used in the treatment of certain blood cancers and bone marrow disorders. It is indicated for myelofibrosis, a rare bone marrow cancer characterised by decreased blood cell production. The tablet is also used to treat polycythemia vera, a blood cancer in which the body produces excess red blood cells, in patients with resistance to hydroxyurea or in whom hydroxyurea treatment has been unsuccessful. Jakavi is indicated for acute graft versus host disease, a complication following bone marrow transplantation, in adults and children aged 12 years and above when previous steroid therapy has been unsuccessful. It is also used for chronic graft versus host disease in adults and children aged 12 years and older who have not responded adequately to 1 or 2 prior systemic treatments. The medication works by inhibiting cellular signalling pathways that promote cancer cell proliferation.
Do not take Jakavi 20mg tablet if you are allergic to ruxolitinib or any other components of this medicine. Inform your physician if you have a history of tuberculosis, hepatitis B or C, liver disease, or kidney problems. The most frequently reported adverse effects include dizziness, reduced blood counts, bruising, bleeding, headache, and facial and body swelling. Notify your physician if you are undergoing dialysis.

How it works
Ruxolitinib, a kinase inhibitor, inhibits dysregulated Janus Associated Kinase (JAK) 1 and JAK2 signalling associated with myelofibrosis and polycythemia vera. By blocking certain enzymes, this medicine can reduce the serious risk of blood or vascular complications in myelofibrosis and polycythemia vera. In GvHD, it reduces the signs and symptoms, improving the disease and survival of transplanted cells.
