Product Introduction

Janumet 50/1000mg Tablet is an oral antidiabetic medicine that contains the active ingredients Sitagliptin and Metformin. It is prescribed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus to help improve blood sugar control in adults. This combination medicine works by increasing insulin release after meals, reducing glucose production in the liver, and improving the body's response to insulin, helping to maintain healthy blood glucose levels when used along with a balanced diet and regular exercise.

Janumet 50/1000mg Tablet is generally weight-neutral and may even support modest weight loss in some individuals, making it a suitable option for people with type 2 diabetes who are overweight or obese. It is also associated with a lower risk of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) when taken as prescribed, particularly when it is not used in combination with insulin or sulfonylurea medicines. In addition, some clinical studies suggest that this medicine may provide cardiovascular benefits, including a reduced risk of heart attack, stroke, and other heart-related complications in suitable patients with type 2 diabetes.

Do not take Janumet 50/1000mg Tablet if you are allergic to Sitagliptin, Metformin, or any of its ingredients. This medicine should not be used by individuals with severe kidney impairment, end-stage kidney disease, or an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) below 30 mL/min/1.73 m², as it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, a rare but serious medical emergency. It is also contraindicated in people with metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have a history of heart failure, kidney disease, liver disease, or any other underlying medical condition. Older adults may require regular monitoring because age-related changes in kidney and liver function can affect the way this medicine is processed and may require dosage adjustments.

Janumet 50/1000mg Tablet is not recommended for children and adolescents, as its safety and effectiveness have not been established in the paediatric population. Always take this medicine exactly as directed by your healthcare professional and attend regular medical check-ups to monitor your blood sugar levels, kidney function, and overall treatment progress.
