Product Introduction

Jolclo 1gm injection contains cloxacillin as its active component. It is used to treat bacterial infections caused by certain types of bacteria that are sensitive to its effects. This medication is specifically effective against certain strains of staphylococcal bacteria that produce an enzyme called beta-lactamase, which can break down other types of penicillin antibiotics. It is commonly used to treat skin and soft tissue infections, such as cellulitis, abscesses, and wound infections caused by susceptible bacteria. It also treats infections including osteomyelitis (bone infection) and septicemia (bloodstream infection) caused by susceptible bacteria, pneumonia, and endocarditis. Osteomyelitis is an infection affecting the bone and its surrounding tissues. Septicemia, also known as sepsis, is a life-threatening condition that occurs when the body's response to an infection becomes widespread and harmful. Pneumonia is an infection that affects the lungs' air sacs. Endocarditis is an infection that affects the heart's inner lining (endocardium). Jolclo 1gm injection can lead to hypersensitivity reactions, ranging from skin rashes and itching to severe symptoms like breathing difficulty and swelling of the face and throat. In extreme cases, a life-threatening allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis can occur. If an allergic reaction is suspected, seek immediate medical help and inform your healthcare provider about known allergies before taking this medication. Patients with liver dysfunction or infectious mononucleosis should use this medication cautiously. Other medical conditions, such as kidney problems or gastrointestinal diseases, might require dose adjustments or careful monitoring whilst using Jolclo 1gm injection. Always inform your healthcare provider about your medical history to ensure safe use of this medication. It can be used in children when necessary, especially for treating bacterial infections susceptible to its effects. However, dosage adjustments may be required based on the child's age, weight, and medical condition. Elderly patients might have reduced kidney and liver function, affecting how the medication is processed and eliminated from the body. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your condition.

How it works

Jolclo 1gm injection exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It belongs to the beta-lactam class of antibiotics and functions by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) on the bacterial cell wall. This disrupts the cross-linking of peptidoglycan strands, essential for the structural integrity of the bacterial cell wall. As a result, the bacterial cell wall weakens, leading to cell lysis and the eventual death of the bacteria. This medication is particularly effective against certain strains of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria that produce beta-lactamase, an enzyme that can inactivate other penicillin antibiotics.

How to Use

Jolclo 1gm injection can be administered orally through tablets or capsules, with or without food, and intravenously for more severe infections. When taken orally, following the prescribed dosages and instructions is crucial. Intravenous administration is utilized in cases where oral intake is not feasible or for severe infections. The appropriate route of administration is determined based on factors such as infection severity and patient condition. Always follow healthcare provider guidance for this medication's correct administration method and dosage.
