Product Introduction
Kelfer 500mg Capsule contains Deferiprone, an iron chelator that removes excess iron from the body. It is indicated for the treatment of iron overload resulting from frequent blood transfusions in patients with thalassemia major when current chelation therapy is insufficient or not recommended.
Do not use Kelfer 500mg Capsule if you are allergic to Deferiprone or any other ingredient in this medicine. Avoid this medication if you have a history of repeated episodes of neutropenia (low white blood cell count) or agranulocytosis (very low white blood cell count). Do not take Kelfer 500mg Capsule if you are currently taking medications known to cause neutropenia or agranulocytosis.
Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Before beginning treatment with Kelfer 500mg Capsule, inform your doctor if you have been diagnosed with HIV or if you have severe liver or kidney impairment. Your doctor may order additional tests to assess your suitability for this medication and to monitor your condition closely during treatment.
Your physician will monitor your blood parameters regularly throughout treatment to prevent neutropenia and agranulocytosis.
