Product Introduction

Lamistar 30 Tablet is a prescription antiretroviral medicine indicated for treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. It contains Lamivudine and Stavudine, two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) that work synergistically to reduce viral load and strengthen immune function in patients with HIV. This combination is employed as part of Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) and does not cure HIV or AIDS. It serves to manage infection, enhance quality of life, and lower the risk of complications. Strict adherence to prescribed dosing is essential, and discontinuation should not occur without medical consultation. Lamistar 30 mg Tablet requires cautious use in patients with hepatic impairment or prior history of pancreatitis. Use during pregnancy is not advised unless specifically directed by a doctor. Concurrent alcohol consumption and other medicines may elevate the risk of adverse effects. Full medical history should be disclosed to the prescribing doctor, and treatment guidance must be followed as directed.

Uses

Lamistar 30 Tablet is FDA-approved for the following use: Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and pediatric patients in combination with other antiretroviral agents.

How it works

This medicine works by blocking a special enzyme called reverse transcriptase, which the HIV virus needs to make copies of itself. When the virus can’t make more copies, it slows down its growth in the body. Over time, this helps lower the viral load and gives the immune system a chance to recover and work better. Taking this medicine consistently as prescribed helps reduce the risk of HIV-related complications and may also reduce the chances of transmitting the virus to others. However, it is not a standalone treatment and must be taken with other HIV medicines.

How to Use

Lamistar 30 Tablet is available in tablet or capsule form. It is usually taken orally twice a day, with or without food. Swallow it whole with water and avoid crushing or chewing the tablet unless advised by a healthcare provider. For best results, take the medicine at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level in your body.

Side Effects

Common side effects: Headache Nausea or vomiting Tiredness or fatigue Diarrhea Peripheral neuropathy (tingling or numbness in hands or feet) Fever or chills Serious side effects (seek immediate medical help): Lactic acidosis (deep rapid breathing, stomach pain, muscle weakness) Severe liver problems (yellowing of skin/eyes, dark urine) Pancreatitis (severe stomach pain, nausea) Muscle weakness or loss of muscle Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling)

Expert Tips

Do not stop taking Lamistar 30 Tablet without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better. Skipping doses can lead to viral resistance, making treatment less effective. Keep regular follow-up appointments to monitor your blood counts, liver function, and signs of side effects. Inform your doctor about any numbness, muscle pain, or unusual fatigue. Always practice safe sex and avoid sharing personal items like razors or toothbrushes.
