Lenasted 5mg Capsule

Lenasted 5mg Capsule is an immunomodulatory agent containing lenalidomide. It is indicated for the treatment of adults with multiple myeloma, mantle cell lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome and follicular lymphoma. Multiple myeloma is a malignancy of plasma cells that proliferate uncontrollably in the bone marrow. Although this type of cancer cannot be cured, symptom management is possible. Myelodysplastic syndrome comprises a group of blood and bone marrow disorders characterised by abnormal blood cell formation and impaired function. Mantle cell lymphoma is a less common malignancy affecting the lymph nodes. Follicular lymphoma is a slow-growing cancer affecting B cells.

Common side effects associated with Lenasted 5mg Capsule include nausea, diarrhea, constipation, muscle cramps, tiredness, fever, cough, headache, back pain, breathlessness, rashes and thyroid and skin problems. Inform your doctor if any of these side effects occur or persist.

Inform your doctor of any allergic reactions to lenalidomide or other components of this medication. Prior to commencing treatment, notify your physician if you have a history of blood clots, myocardial infarction, current smoking status or elevated blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Inform your physician if you have viral infections such as hepatitis B, varicella zoster or HIV.

Regular blood tests will be conducted before and during treatment as this medication may cause a reduction in blood cell counts. Lenasted 5mg Capsule is not recommended for patients below 18 years of age.

Lenasted 5mg Capsule activates T cells and natural killer cells of the immune system and facilitates the attack on cancer cells. It works by antagonizing the growth of blood vessels in the cancer cells and delays the development of cancer cells. It inhibits growth and multiplication of tumor cells.

Swallow the capsule whole with water. This capsule shall be consumed with or without food. Avoid crushing, chewing or breaking them.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Male patients are advised to use effective contraception (condom) during treatment with Lenalidomide and for 7 days at the end of the treatment even if you have undergone vasectomy. They should not donate sperm because this medication is present in the semen. It is advised not to donate blood during therapy and for at least 7 days after treatment.
