Leugard 11.25mg Depot Injection contains the active ingredient Leuprolide acetate. It belongs to the class of Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) agonists. Leugard 11.25mg Depot Injection is used to treat prostate cancer in men, hormone-responsive breast cancer, endometriosis (tissue that normally lines the interior of the uterus growing outside of it), and uterine fibroids (noncancerous growths of the uterus) in women. This medicine is also used in treating central precocious puberty (premature puberty), in which a child's body begins to change into an adult at an early age due to certain hormonal releases. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Leuprolide acetate or any other ingredients in the formulation, including Goserelin and Triptorelin, or to products containing gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH). During treatment, existing symptoms may initially worsen due to an increase in sex steroids in the body. This will subside with continued use of the medicine. Speak to your physician if you have concerns. This medicine is not recommended in pregnant women, breastfeeding women, or patients with abnormal vaginal bleeding. It is not recommended if you experience seizures or mood disorders. Men who have urinary blockage or have undergone testicular excision should inform their physician. Bone density should be measured at regular intervals. If you are a woman of childbearing age, use non-hormonal contraceptive methods while taking Leugard 11.25mg Depot Injection. Inform your doctor if you experience pressure on the spinal cord, urinary disorders, or haematuria (blood in the urine). Before starting therapy, inform your doctor about any underlying medical conditions including diabetes, seizures, heart problems including chest pain, irregular heartbeats, depression, or increased risk of osteoporosis (thinning of the bones). Inform your healthcare professional about all medicines you are taking, including prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, herbal medicines and vitamin supplements, before beginning therapy.

Leugard 11.25mg Depot Injection causes the pituitary gland's GnRH receptors to become desensitised, which lowers the amount of LH and FSH secreted.
