Product Introduction
Lifepenem 1gm Injection is a carbapenem antibiotic containing meropenem as the active ingredient. It is indicated for treating bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, including skin, pulmonary, urinary, and gynaecological infections. The injection is also used for prevention of surgical site infections.
Lifepenem 1gm Injection is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to beta-lactam antibiotics, including penicillins or cephalosporins. Patients who have experienced severe diarrhoea following prior antibiotic use should inform their physician before treatment.
Meropenem may reduce serum concentrations of valproic acid, a medication used to manage seizures and certain psychiatric conditions, potentially leading to decreased valproic acid efficacy. Patients taking valproic acid may require dose adjustment or alternative therapeutic options, which should be determined by their healthcare provider.
Prior to commencing Lifepenem 1gm Injection, patients must disclose to their physician any pre-existing medical conditions, including epilepsy, kidney dysfunction, liver disease, or adherence to a salt-restricted diet. During treatment, blood tests may be recommended to monitor blood cell count and renal function.
Patients who are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding should inform their doctor of all current medications, including herbal preparations and dietary supplements.

Expert Tips
Overuse or misuse of antibiotics can contribute to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. It is important to use this drug only as prescribed and directed by your physician. Attend any scheduled follow-up appointments with your healthcare provider to monitor your improvement and discuss any doubts or queries you may have regarding your treatment with Lifepenem 1gm Injection. While this drug is generally well-tolerated, it can cause side effects in some individuals. If you get serious side effects, like severe diarrhoea, rash, or difficulty breathing, notify your doctor immediately. It is highly advised not to skip the dose schedules as it may decrease the drug's effectiveness and increase the chance of bacteria developing resistance. It is generally suggested to complete the full treatment schedule as your doctor prescribes.
