Product Introduction

MaxSil Oral Suspension contains sildenafil as its active ingredient. This medication is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in adults and children. PAH is characterised by elevated blood pressure in the arteries that carry blood from the heart to the lungs. The medication belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) inhibitors, which includes sildenafil products used for erectile dysfunction. Patients with PAH commonly experience breathlessness and limited exercise capacity owing to increased pressure in their pulmonary arteries. MaxSil Oral Suspension can improve exercise capacity by reducing strain on the heart and lungs, enabling patients with PAH to undertake physical activity more comfortably. PAH is a chronic condition that substantially affects daily functioning and wellbeing. By managing disease symptoms and progression, this medication can enhance quality of life in individuals with PAH. It is among the few medications approved for paediatric PAH, making it an important option for children with this condition.

MaxSil Oral Suspension may cause temporary reduction in blood pressure, particularly when combined with other blood-pressure-lowering medications or in patients with existing hypotension. Care should be taken when using this medication in patients with low blood pressure. Any pre-existing heart conditions should be disclosed to the healthcare provider before initiating treatment. Patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment may need dose adjustments or careful monitoring during use. MaxSil Oral Suspension must not be used concurrently with nitrates (nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate) or any other medications containing nitric oxide donors. This combination can result in a dangerous fall in blood pressure.

Uses

MaxSil Oral Suspension is used to treat the following: Pulmonary arterial hypertension

How it works

This medication works by relaxing the blood vessels in the lungs, reducing the pressure in the pulmonary arteries, and improving blood flow. This helps to alleviate symptoms of PAH and improve exercise capacity.

How to Use

It comes in the form of a powder that needs to be mixed with water to create a suspension. Your healthcare provider will provide the exact dosing instructions, so it is crucial to follow their recommendations carefully. Generally, the suspension is taken three times a day, with at least 4 to 6 hours between doses. It can be taken with or without food. Shake the bottle well before each use and measure the prescribed dose using the provided oral syringe or dosing cup.

MaxSil Oral Suspension causes some side effects like all medications, although not everyone will experience them. Serious side effects of MaxSil Oral Suspension are: Sudden vision loss or vision changes Sudden hearing loss or changes in hearing Prolonged and painful erection (priapism) Severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing) Chest pain or heart-related symptoms Common side effects of MaxSil Oral Suspension are: Headache Flushing (reddening and warming of the face and skin) Upset stomach or indigestion Nasal congestion Dizziness or lightheadedness Diarrhea Nausea Back pain Muscle pain

Expert Tips

Inform your healthcare provider about your complete medical history, including any existing health conditions, medications, or supplements you are taking, to avoid potential drug interactions or contraindications. Follow your prescribed dosage carefully and avoid taking more than the recommended amount. MaxSil Oral Suspension should not be used with nitrates or nitric oxide donors, as this can lead to a dangerous drop in blood pressure. If you experience sudden vision or hearing changes, prolonged and painful erections, or any severe allergic reactions, seek immediate medical attention. For women, this medication is not approved for use during pregnancy, and breastfeeding mothers should consult their healthcare provider for personalized advice. Regularly communicate with your healthcare provider and attend follow-up appointments to monitor your response to the medication and address any concerns.
