Categories: Infectious Disease

Conditions: Antibacterials

Product Introduction

Merobax 500mg Injection contains Meropenem, a broad-spectrum antibiotic that belongs to the carbapenem class. It is prescribed to treat a wide range of bacterial infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including infections of the skin, lungs, urinary tract, abdomen, and female reproductive organs. It is also commonly used to help prevent surgical site infections in patients undergoing certain surgical procedures.

This medicine should not be used by individuals who are allergic to Meropenem or other beta-lactam antibiotics, such as penicillins or cephalosporins. Inform your doctor if you have experienced severe diarrhea after taking antibiotics in the past, as this may require special precautions.

Merobax 500mg Injection may interact with valproic acid, a medicine used to treat epilepsy and certain mental health conditions. It can lower the levels of valproic acid in the blood, reducing its effectiveness. Your healthcare provider may adjust your treatment or recommend an alternative medication if needed.

Before using Merobax Injection, tell your doctor if you have a history of epilepsy, kidney disease, liver disorders, or if you are following a low-sodium diet. Your physician may recommend regular blood tests during treatment to monitor kidney function and blood cell counts.

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before starting treatment. Also, inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines, vitamins, herbal products, and dietary supplements you are currently taking to help prevent potential drug interactions and ensure safe and effective treatment.
