Product Introduction
Merocare SE 1.5gm injection is an antibiotic containing two active ingredients: Meropenem and Sulbactam. It belongs to the carbapenem antibiotic class and is indicated for treating various bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, including pneumonia, urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, gynaecological infections, skin infections, meningitis, and sepsis. The medication works by preventing bacteria from forming their protective cell wall, essential for bacterial survival. Sulbactam inhibits bacterial enzymes capable of inactivating Meropenem. Meropenem may also be used in neutropenic patients with fever suspected to be caused by bacterial infection.
Do not use Merocare SE 1.5gm injection if you have allergies to Meropenem, Sulbactam, Penicillins, Cephalosporins, Carbapenems, or any ingredient in the formulation. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding before receiving this injection. Notify your doctor prior to treatment if you have liver or kidney problems or have experienced severe diarrhoea following other antibiotics. Inform your doctor of any pre-existing medical conditions and if you follow a salt-controlled diet.
Common side effects include headache, abdominal pain, nausea, elevated platelet count, and diarrhoea. During treatment, a positive Coombs test may occur, indicating the presence of antibodies that may affect red blood cells. Your doctor may recommend blood tests to monitor your blood cell count and kidney function.
