Product Introduction
Merowin 500mg Injection is a carbapenem antibiotic containing Meropenem. It is indicated for treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, including skin, lung, urinary, and gynaecological infections. It is also used for prevention of surgical site infections.
Merowin 500mg Injection is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergic reaction to beta-lactam antibiotics, including penicillins or cephalosporins. Patients who have experienced severe diarrhoea following other antibiotic use should inform their physician prior to treatment.
Merowin 500mg Injection can reduce serum concentrations of valproic acid, a medication used to treat seizures and certain psychiatric conditions, potentially decreasing its effectiveness. Patients taking valproic acid may require dose adjustment or alternative treatment consideration by their healthcare provider.
Before commencing Merowin 500mg Injection, patients should inform their physician of pre-existing medical conditions including epilepsy, kidney or liver problems, or adherence to a salt-restricted diet. During treatment, blood tests may be recommended to monitor blood cell count and renal function.
Patients who are pregnant or planning pregnancy should inform their doctor of all recent medications, including herbal preparations and supplements.
