Product Introduction

Minirin Melt 120mcg Tablet contains desmopressin, also known as DDAVP (1-desamino-8-D-arginine vasopressin), a synthetic form of the hormone vasopressin. Vasopressin is naturally produced by the hypothalamus and released from the pituitary gland, where it regulates water balance, blood pressure, and urine production.

Minirin Melt 120mcg Tablet is the treatment of choice for central diabetes insipidus, a condition in which the body cannot properly regulate water balance. It reduces excessive thirst and urination by mimicking vasopressin action. It is also sometimes used for mild to moderate von Willebrand disease (VWD), a bleeding disorder caused by deficiency or dysfunction of von Willebrand factor. The medication stimulates release of von Willebrand factor, which aids in clotting.

Minirin Melt 120mcg Tablet can cause water retention, which may lead to hyponatremia (low blood sodium levels). Sodium levels should be monitored during treatment, particularly in patients at increased risk of hyponatremia, such as those with certain medical conditions or taking medications that affect sodium levels. This medication is primarily eliminated through the kidneys. Patients with impaired kidney function may be at increased risk of accumulation and require close monitoring during use.

Minirin Melt 120mcg Tablet should be avoided in patients with known allergy or hypersensitivity to desmopressin or its components. Inform your healthcare provider of any pre-existing medical conditions, including gastrointestinal disorders, liver disease, kidney disease, or other health conditions, as these may require special precautions or adjustments in medication use.
