Product Introduction

Mofecon S 540mg tablet is an immunosuppressant containing the active ingredient mycophenolate sodium. It is an inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) inhibitor used to prevent organ rejection in patients who have undergone organ transplantation, including kidney, heart, or liver transplant. The medication is prescribed as part of combination immunosuppressive therapy alongside other drugs.

This medicine is contraindicated in pregnancy due to risk of birth defects and miscarriage. It should not be used in pregnant women unless no suitable alternatives exist and potential benefits justify the risks. Female patients of reproductive potential must use effective contraception during treatment to prevent pregnancy.

Live vaccines must not be administered to patients taking Mofecon S 540mg tablet as vaccine effectiveness is reduced and infection risk increases. Patients should not donate blood during treatment and for at least six weeks after stopping the medication to ensure adequate clearance from the body.

Do not take this medicine if allergic to mycophenolate sodium or any other ingredients. Inform your doctor of any existing liver or heart disease before starting treatment. As this drug suppresses immune defences, it increases the risk of skin cancer. Patients must take precautions to minimise exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) light.

Contact your doctor immediately if you develop bruising under the skin, fever, unexplained fatigue, dizziness, yellowing of skin or eyes, vision impairment, reduced urine output, or seizures after taking this medicine.

Mofecon S 540mg tablet is an immunosuppressive medication that may affect infant immune development and should be avoided during breastfeeding.

Uses

Prevent organ transplant rejections.

How it works

Mofecon S 540mg tablet works by inhibiting the enzyme inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) and reducing the production of guanosine nucleotides. MMF specifically affects the proliferation of activated T and B lymphocytes. These lymphocytes are key players in the immune response that can lead to the rejection of a transplanted organ.

How to Use

It is an orally available prescription drug. Your physician will decide the dose and duration of the treatment based on your disease condition, severity, and other factors. Always take Mofecon S 540mg tablet as prescribed by your doctor. Do not open, crush, break, or chew the medicine. Take the medicine at the same time every day as advised by your doctor.

Inform your doctor about all the medications (prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal) you are taking, as they can interact with this drug. If you plan to conceive or suspect you might be pregnant while taking Mofecon S 540mg tablet, it is important to consult your doctor immediately. They may suggest switching to alternative medications that are safer during pregnancy or adjusting your treatment plan.
