Product Introduction

Mucyst AB Tablet contains N-Acetylcysteine and Acebrophylline. It is used to treat and prevent symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), including coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. The medication is also indicated for other respiratory conditions such as bronchitis (inflammation of lung air passages causing cough and mucus production), emphysema (a lung condition characterised by damaged air sacs leading to breathlessness), and bronchiectasis (enlargement of bronchial tubes due to infections, resulting in chronic cough and mucus production). Mucyst AB Tablet can also be used to prevent mucus plugs from forming after surgery or a heart attack.

Patients with known allergy to N-Acetylcysteine or Acebrophylline should not use this medication. It should be avoided in severe asthma, peptic ulcer, haemorrhagic disease, and severe renal or hepatic impairment. The medication can cause bronchospasm in certain patients, particularly those with a history of bronchospasm; use with caution in these patients. It should not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women unless medically necessary. Mucyst AB Tablet may be used in elderly patients, though cautious use is advised. It may be used in children aged 6 years and above, though cautious use is advised.

Uses

Mucyst AB Tablet is used for the following: Asthma Chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) Bronchitis Emphysema Bronchiectasis Cystic fibrosis

How it works

Mucyst AB Tablet is a combination of two drugs. N-acetylcysteine works by breaking down the disulfide bonds that hold mucus together. This makes the mucus thinner and easier to cough out. It also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which can be helpful for people with respiratory conditions. Acebrophylline works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the airways. This makes the airways wider, making it easier to breathe. Acebrophylline also has a mucolytic effect, which helps to loosen mucus.

How to Use

Mucyst AB Tablet is administered orally, meaning it is taken by mouth. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water. The best route of administration depends on the individual's needs and preferences, but oral administration is typically the most convenient.
