Product Introduction
Mycept 500 contains the active ingredient mycophenolate mofetil. It is an inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) inhibitor used to prevent organ rejection in patients who have received an organ transplant, including kidney, heart, or liver transplantation. The medicine is prescribed as part of combination immunosuppressive therapy.
Mycept 500 is contraindicated during pregnancy due to the risk of birth defects and miscarriage. It should not be used in pregnant women unless no suitable alternatives exist and potential benefits justify the risks. Women of childbearing potential are advised to use effective contraception while taking this tablet to prevent pregnancy.
Live vaccines should not be administered during treatment with Mycept 500mg Tablet due to reduced vaccine effectiveness and increased risk of infection. Patients taking this medicine should not donate blood during treatment and for at least six weeks after stopping treatment to ensure adequate clearance from the body.
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to mycophenolate mofetil or any other ingredients in the tablet. Inform your doctor of existing liver or heart disease before starting treatment. As this drug reduces immune defences, it can increase the risk of skin cancer. Patients must take precautions to limit sunlight and ultraviolet (UV) light exposure.
Seek immediate medical attention if you develop bruising under the skin, fever, unexplained tiredness, dizziness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, vision impairment, reduced urine output, or seizures after taking this medicine.
Mycept 500mg Tablet is an immunosuppressive medication that may affect an infant's developing immune system and should be avoided during breastfeeding. In some cases, alternative medications with a more favourable safety profile during breastfeeding may be considered.
Uses

How it works
Mycept 500 mg Tablet works by inhibiting the enzyme inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) and reducing the production of guanosine nucleotides. MMF specifically affects the proliferation of activated T and B lymphocytes. These lymphocytes are key players in the immune response that can lead to the rejection of a transplanted organ.
How to Use
It is an orally available prescription drug. Your physician will decide the dose and duration of the treatment based on your disease condition, severity, and other factors. Always take Mycept 500mg Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. Do not open, crush, break, or chew the medicine.
