Product Introduction

Nicardia 10mg Capsule is an antihypertensive agent containing the active ingredient nifedipine, a calcium channel blocker. It is used to treat hypertension (raised blood pressure) and certain types of angina (chest pain) caused by coronary artery disease. In hypertension, this medicine relaxes blood vessels to allow blood to pass smoothly. In angina, it improves blood supply and prevents chest pain.

Nicardia 10mg Capsule is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to nifedipine or its components. It should not be used in patients with acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) or during the initial recovery phase following heart attack, as it may worsen cardiovascular function in these individuals.

Cautious use is required in patients with heart conditions such as heart failure or certain conduction abnormalities. Close monitoring is necessary in these patients, and dosage adjustments may be required.

Sudden drops in blood pressure can occur during treatment with Nicardia 10mg Capsule, particularly in patients with very high blood pressure and low blood volume. This sudden decrease in blood pressure upon standing or changing positions is known as orthostatic hypotension. Blood pressure monitoring during treatment with this drug is essential.

How it works

Nicardia 10mg Capsule works by blocking the influx of calcium ions into certain body cells, including muscle cells in blood vessels and the heart. This blockage of calcium ions inhibits the contraction of smooth muscle cells in blood vessels, leading to vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) and a decrease in blood pressure.
