Product Introduction
Nicardia CD Retard 30mg Tablet is an antihypertensive agent containing nifedipine, a calcium channel blocker. It is used to treat hypertension (elevated blood pressure) and certain forms of angina (chest pain) associated with coronary artery disease. In hypertension, the medication relaxes blood vessels to improve blood flow. In angina, it enhances coronary blood supply and reduces chest pain episodes.
Nicardia CD Retard 30mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to nifedipine or any component of the formulation. It should not be used in patients with acute myocardial infarction or during the initial recovery phase following a heart attack, as it may compromise cardiovascular function.
Caution is required when using this medication in patients with heart failure or conduction abnormalities. Such patients require close monitoring, and dosage adjustments may be necessary based on clinical response and tolerability.
Sudden reductions in blood pressure may occur during treatment, particularly in patients with severely elevated baseline blood pressure or reduced blood volume. This rapid decrease in blood pressure upon standing or changing position is termed orthostatic hypotension. Blood pressure monitoring is essential throughout treatment with Nicardia CD Retard 30mg Tablet.

How it works
Nicardia CD Retard 30mg Tablet works by blocking the influx of calcium ions into certain body cells, including muscle cells in blood vessels and the heart. This blockage of calcium ions inhibits the contraction of smooth muscle cells in blood vessels, leading to vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) and a decrease in blood pressure.
