Product Introduction

Nicardia XL 30mg Tablet is an antihypertensive agent containing Nifedipine, a calcium channel blocker. It is used to treat hypertension (elevated blood pressure) and certain types of angina (chest pain) caused by coronary artery disease. In hypertension, this medicine relaxes blood vessels to allow blood to flow more easily. In angina, it improves blood supply to prevent chest pain.

Nicardia XL 30mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergic reactions to Nifedipine or its components. It should not be used in patients with acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) or during the initial recovery phase, as it may worsen cardiovascular function in these patients.

Caution is required in patients with heart conditions such as heart failure or certain conduction abnormalities. Close monitoring and dosage adjustments are necessary in these patients.

Sudden drops in blood pressure can occur during treatment with Nicardia XL 30mg Tablet, particularly in patients with very high baseline blood pressure and low blood volume. This sudden decrease in blood pressure upon standing or changing position is known as orthostatic hypotension. Blood pressure monitoring during treatment with this drug is essential.

How it works

Nicardia XL 30mg Tablet works by blocking the influx of calcium ions into certain body cells, including muscle cells in blood vessels and the heart. This blockage of calcium ions inhibits the contraction of smooth muscle cells in blood vessels, leading to vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) and a decrease in blood pressure.
