Product Introduction

Nirmacom Tablet contains the antiviral combination of Nirmatrelvir and Ritonavir, used to treat mild to moderate COVID-19 in adults at high risk of developing severe disease. Nirmatrelvir acts as a SARS-CoV-2 protease inhibitor that blocks viral replication, while Ritonavir enhances its effectiveness by slowing its metabolism in the body. Treatment is most effective when initiated early in infection, ideally within five days of symptom onset. Dosage is determined by the prescribing physician based on clinical condition, risk factors, and potential drug interactions. Nirmacom Tablet is commonly prescribed for patients with risk factors including diabetes, hypertension, chronic lung disease, heart disease, weakened immunity, cancer, or advanced age. This medicine is not a substitute for vaccination and does not prevent COVID-19 infection. It is not recommended in patients with severe liver or kidney disease and should not be used in individuals with allergy to any component of the formulation.

Uses

Nirmacom Tablet uses are: Treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 in adults at high risk of progression to severe disease, hospitalisation, or death.

How it works

Nirmacom contains two active components: 1. Nirmatrelvir Inhibits the SARS-CoV-2 main protease enzyme (Mpro). The virus requires Mpro to process polyproteins, which are essential for replication. Blocking Mpro prevents viral multiplication inside human cells. 2. Ritonavir Ritonavir is not active against COVID-19 on its own. It boosts Nirmatrelvir by inhibiting CYP3A4, the enzyme that metabolises it. This increases Nirmatrelvir levels and maintains its therapeutic activity. Together, the combination reduces viral load in the body and helps prevent worsening of symptoms.

How to Use

Take the tablets orally, with or without food. Swallow tablets whole; do not crush or chew. Treatment typically lasts 5 days, as prescribed by your doctor. Start medication as soon as possible after confirming a COVID-19 infection. If you miss a dose and it has been less than 8 hours since your last dose, take it immediately. Otherwise, skip it and continue the regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
