Product Introduction
Octject 30mg Injection is a prescription medicine containing octreotide, a synthetic form of the natural hormone somatostatin. It functions by controlling the release of certain hormones within the body and is primarily indicated for treatment of acromegaly, a condition characterised by excessive growth hormone production, symptoms arising from specific rare tumours of the digestive system including carcinoid tumours and VIPomas, and post-surgical complications following pancreatic procedures. The injection is also used to manage oesophageal variceal bleeding in patients with chronic liver disease and to treat pituitary tumours secreting excessive thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), particularly in cases where alternative treatments have proven ineffective. Administration may be given subcutaneously, intramuscularly, or intravenously depending on the patient's condition, and use should occur only under medical supervision.
Uses
Treats acromegaly Controls symptoms from certain digestive tract tumours Prevents issues after pancreatic surgery Helps treat pituitary tumours that produce too much TSH
How it works
Octject Injection works by mimicking somatostatin, which naturally slows down the release of certain hormones in the body. It lowers the levels of growth hormone and other substances that can cause symptoms in people with hormone-related disorders.
