Product Introduction

Olabir Tablet is a PARP (poly [adenosine diphosphate-ribose] polymerase inhibitor) inhibitor containing the active ingredient Olaparib, used in the treatment of pancreatic and prostate cancer. The medication may be administered as monotherapy or in combination with other anticancer drugs.

Olaparib is contraindicated in patients allergic to the active compound or other ingredients of the medicine. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience breathlessness, chest pain, rapid heart rate, fever, cough, or wheezing during treatment.

Blood tests will be conducted before treatment initiation and monthly during therapy, as this medicine may reduce red blood cell, white blood cell, and platelet counts. Inform your healthcare provider prior to starting treatment if you have a history of lung, liver, heart, or kidney disorders.

This medication is not recommended during pregnancy as it may harm the fetus and cause miscarriage. Women of reproductive age should undergo pregnancy testing before beginning Olabir Tablet. Continued use of contraception for at least six months after treatment completion is advised.

Breastfeeding is not recommended while receiving treatment, as it is unknown whether Olabir Tablet passes into breast milk. Male patients should avoid donating sperm for at least three months following treatment completion.

Inform your healthcare provider of all medications you are taking, including prescription medicines, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and supplements.

Treatment of Prostate cancer Metastatic Pancreatic cancer

How it works

Olabir Tablet works by inhibiting the enzyme poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP), which plays a role in repairing damaged DNA in cells. By inhibiting PARP, Olabir Tablet prevents cancer cells from repairing their DNA, leading to cell death. This targeted approach is especially effective in cancers with defective DNA repair mechanisms.

How to Use

The medicine will be prescribed to you by a healthcare professional in a hospital setting. Olabir Tablet is available as a tablet to be taken with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider. The dose will be decided by your healthcare professional based on your conditions. Avoid crushing, opening, or dissolving the tablet and swallow it whole with a glass of water. Take the Olabir Tablet at the same time every day.

Expert Tips

Olabir Tablet can lower blood cell counts. Thus, it's best to get blood tests done at regular intervals. When undergoing this therapy, stay out of direct sunlight and wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 50 before going outside. Olabir Tablet should not be stopped without first talking to your doctor. When using this medication, stay away from grapefruit juice as it may raise your blood levels of the drug. It is recommended that you inform your doctor about other anticancer medicines you have been taking. It's critical to maintain a sufficient fluid intake because dehydration can exacerbate symptoms such as diarrhea and other gastrointestinal disorders. Even if you feel better or see a change in your symptoms, you should still talk to your doctor before stopping the Olabir Tablet. Remember to attend all scheduled appointments and follow-up visits with your healthcare provider to ensure your treatment is effective and any side effects are managed appropriately.
