Product Introduction
Orfluzol 200mg Injection contains fluconazole, an antifungal medication used to treat various fungal infections. This prescription antifungal is indicated for treatment and prevention of a range of fungal infections, including vaginal yeast infections, oral thrush, oesophageal infections, skin fungal infections, and certain systemic fungal infections. Fluconazole has demonstrated effectiveness in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised patients, treating serious fungal infections in the bloodstream, brain, and other organs. However, some fungi have developed resistance to fluconazole, meaning they do not respond to treatment. Because of this, doctors may recommend testing the fungus to confirm fluconazole will be effective prior to initiating treatment. Orfluzol 200mg Injection is usually administered once daily, with or without food, as prescribed by your doctor. It is important to complete the full course of therapy to prevent recurrence of infection.
Uses
Vaginal yeast infections Oral thrush (mouth infections) Oesophageal fungal infections Systemic fungal infections (affecting organs like the lungs, brain, or bloodstream
How it works
Fluconazole works by inhibiting a specific fungal enzyme called lanosterol 14-α-demethylase, which is essential for producing ergosterol, a crucial component of the fungal cell membrane. Normally, this enzyme converts lanosterol into ergosterol; however, fluconazole attaches to the enzyme’s iron atom, preventing it from working properly. This blocks the production of ergosterol, causing harmful methylated sterols to build up in the fungal cell membrane. The result is disrupted cell membrane structure and function, which stops the fungus from growing. Resistance to fluconazole can occur if the fungus alters the enzyme or reduces the drug's ability to bind to the enzyme. Other possible resistance mechanisms are still being researched.
Side Effects
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Common: Nausea or upset stomach Headache Dizziness Diarrhea Skin rash (mild) Changes in taste Mild abdominal pain Serious: Severe skin reactions like blistering or peeling skin (Stevens-Johnson syndrome) Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), which may indicate liver problems Dark urine or pale stools, signs of liver issues Severe allergic reactions: swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or difficulty breathing Seizures (very rare) Irregular heartbeat (QT prolongation) Severe fatigue or unusual bruising (possible blood-related effects)
Expert Tips
Take the tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor; do not skip doses and always complete the full course. It can be taken with or without food, but if you feel nauseous, taking it with food may help. Avoid alcohol during treatment to reduce stress on the liver. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to conceive before starting the medicine. For vaginal yeast infections, symptoms may improve within 1–3 days; however, completing the full dose is essential for a complete recovery.

Safety Advice
Pregnancy: Consult Your Doctor Fluconazole should be avoided during pregnancy unless clearly prescribed by a doctor, especially in high doses or long-term treatments, as it may cause harm to the unborn baby. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
Lungs: Consult Your Doctor It is unknown whether Orfluzol 200mg Injection can be used in patients with lung disorders. Consult your doctor if you have any lung diseases before starting the treatment.
Breastfeeding: Consult Your Doctor Single, low doses of Fluconazole (e.g., 150mg) are generally considered safe during breastfeeding, as only small amounts pass into breast milk. High doses or long-term use may increase the amount of medicine passed to the baby, so this should be used only if clearly advised by a doctor.
