Product Introduction
Orfucef 1.5gm Injection contains cefuroxime as its active ingredient. It is an antibiotic medication used to treat various bacterial infections and belongs to the cephalosporin class of antibiotics. It works by inhibiting the growth and spread of bacteria in the body. This medication demonstrates broad-spectrum activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It is effective against many common pathogens, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Moraxella catarrhalis. This medication is commonly used to treat respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections including gonorrhea. It should not be used in patients with a known allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics or penicillins due to the risk of cross-reactivity and increased chance of allergic reactions. Orfucef 1.5gm Injection and other antibiotics can disrupt the normal balance of bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, potentially leading to overgrowth of Clostridium difficile. Patients with a history of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea may require careful consideration before use of Orfucef 1.5gm Injection. This medication is generally not recommended for use in preterm infants due to the potential risk of increased incidence of necrotizing enterocolitis. Patients with severe kidney impairment or those requiring dialysis may require dosage adjustments.
