Product Introduction

Orfucef 500mg Tablet contains cefuroxime as its active ingredient. It is an antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections and belongs to the cephalosporin class of antibiotics. The medication works by inhibiting bacterial growth and spread in the body. It has broad-spectrum activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, and is effective against many common pathogens including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Moraxella catarrhalis. Orfucef 500mg Tablet is commonly used to treat respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections including gonorrhea.

Orfucef 500mg Tablet should not be used in individuals with known allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics or penicillins due to the risk of cross-reactivity and increased chance of allergic reactions. Orfucef 500mg Tablet and other antibiotics can disrupt the normal balance of bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, potentially leading to overgrowth of Clostridium difficile. Patients with a history of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea may require careful consideration before use or may have this medication contraindicated. Use is generally not recommended in preterm infants due to potential increased risk of necrotizing enterocolitis. Patients with severe kidney impairment or those requiring dialysis may require dosage adjustments.
