Product Introduction
Oriaxon 1gm Injection is an antibiotic containing the active ingredient ceftriaxone. It belongs to the class of medications known as cephalosporins. This medicine is prescribed to treat a range of bacterial infections, including those affecting the brain (meningitis), lungs, middle ear, abdomen and abdominal wall (peritonitis), urinary tract and kidneys, bones and joints, skin or soft tissues, and blood-related infections. Additionally, this medicine can be given for sexually transmitted infections such as gonorrhea and syphilis, is used in patients with low immunity who develop infections and fever, treats chest infections in adults with chronic bronchitis, addresses Lyme disease from tick bites in both adults and children, including newborns aged 15 days or older, and prevents infections during surgeries.
Do not take Oriaxon 1gm Injection if you are allergic to ceftriaxone, other cephalosporins, or any of its ingredients. Do not use this medicine if you have experienced a severe allergic reaction to penicillin or similar antibiotics (cephalosporins, carbapenems, or monobactams) or if you are allergic to lidocaine and are receiving the medicine as an intramuscular injection. Such reactions may include throat or facial swelling, difficulty breathing or swallowing, rapid swelling of hands, feet, or ankles, and a sudden, severe rash.
This medicine should not be administered intravenously to premature babies or newborns up to 28 days old who have specific blood disorders, jaundice, or are receiving a calcium-containing product. Before using Oriaxon 1gm Injection, inform your doctor if you have recently used or will use calcium-containing products, experienced diarrhoea after taking antibiotics, had gastrointestinal issues such as colitis, liver or kidney concerns, gallstones, kidney stones, are on a low sodium diet, or have a history of symptoms such as rash, skin blistering, fever, flu-like symptoms, liver enzyme elevation, or enlarged lymph nodes in response to medications.
Uses
Treats bacterial infection.
How it works
Ceftriaxone works like a "construction stopper" for bacteria. It interferes with their ability to build strong cell walls, causing them to weaken and eventually die. This helps clear the infection and gets rid of the harmful bacteria.
Side Effects
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Expert Tips
If prescribed for a long duration, your doctor may recommend regular blood or urine tests. This medication can affect urine sugar test results and a blood test called the Coombs test. Always inform the lab technician or healthcare worker that you are using Oriaxon 1gm Injection before any medical test. If you are diabetic, be aware that some blood sugar monitoring devices may show incorrect readings while on this medicine. Consult your doctor or pharmacist about suitable glucose testing methods during your treatment.
