Product Introduction
Palnox 0.25mg injection is an antiemetic belonging to the class of 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. It contains palonosetron as the active ingredient and is used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by cancer treatments including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or following surgery. Nausea is characterised by stomach discomfort and the urge to vomit. Common side effects include hives, facial swelling, breathing difficulty, and chest pain. Inform your healthcare provider if these side effects are concerning or persist longer than expected. The injection may be administered immediately or subsequently with anticancer medicines. Following surgery, it is typically given up to 24 hours during recovery from anaesthesia. Inform your physician if you have a history of recurrent constipation, bowel obstruction, heart problems, or imbalance of certain minerals in your blood such as magnesium and potassium. Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to palonosetron. Inform your physician of all medications you are currently taking, including herbal medicines and supplements, prior to receiving the Palnox 0.25mg injection.
Uses
Postoperative nausea and vomiting. Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.
How it works
It is a type of serotonin receptor antagonist, which works by blocking the action of serotonin in the body that induces nausea and vomiting. The chemotherapeutic trigger zone(CTZ) contains the receptor serotonin, when this CTZ is stimulated, vomiting occurs. It prevents the signals from serotonin and helps to reduce the symptoms of nausea and vomiting.

The medicine will be administered to you by a healthcare professional in a hospital setting. Palnox 0.25mg injection is usually given about 30 minutes before you receive your anti-cancer medicine (chemotherapy) or right before anaesthesia for surgery.
