Product Introduction
Pegex 6mg Injection contains the active ingredient pegfilgrastim, a granulocyte colony stimulating factor approved by the FDA. It is indicated to decrease the risk of febrile neutropenia (fever or infection occurring with low white blood cell count) and reduce the duration of neutropenia (low white blood cell count) in patients receiving bone marrow suppressive chemotherapy. The injection is also indicated to increase survival in patients exposed to radiation therapy that causes severe and life-threatening bone marrow damage.
Pegfilgrastim acts on blood-forming cells, stimulating cell multiplication and activating cell function. It is a protein synthesized through biotechnology using E. coli bacteria. As a member of the cytokine protein family, pegfilgrastim closely resembles the natural granulocyte-colony stimulating factor produced by the body. White blood cells are essential for fighting infection. These cells are highly sensitive to chemotherapy effects, which can reduce their number. When white blood cell count decreases, the body may lack sufficient cells to combat bacteria, increasing infection risk.
Before starting treatment with this injection, inform your physician if you have or have ever had liver disease, fever or infection, kidney problems, heart problems, or a family history of kidney diseases. Do not use this injection if you are allergic to pegfilgrastim, filgrastim, or any other ingredients in the formulation. Report symptoms of left upper abdominal pain, shoulder pain, and respiratory problems immediately to your doctor. The most common side effects are pain in the bones, arms, and legs.
