Categories: Oncology

Conditions: Anti Cancer

Product Introduction

PemeSYM 500 Injection contains Pemetrexed, an anticancer medicine classified as an antifolate agent. It is primarily used to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and malignant pleural mesothelioma, a cancer affecting the lining of the lungs. Depending on the condition, it may be administered alone or in combination with other chemotherapy medicines such as cisplatin. To help reduce the risk of side effects, your doctor may also prescribe folic acid, vitamin B12, and corticosteroids before and during treatment.

Before each dose, regular blood tests are performed to monitor your kidney and liver function and ensure your blood cell counts are suitable for treatment. Inform your doctor if you have a history of kidney disease, heart problems, fluid around the lungs, recent radiotherapy, or vaccinations. Women should avoid becoming pregnant during treatment and for at least 6 months after the final dose, while men are advised not to father a child during treatment and for 3 months afterward due to potential fertility risks. PemeSYM 500 Injection is not recommended for children or adolescents below 18 years of age.

Uses

Malignant pleural mesothelioma Non-small cell lung carcinoma

How it works

PemeSYM 500 Injection inhibits the mechanism required for cell division and replication by blocking specific enzymes involved in folate metabolism (essential for cell replication) and DNA synthesis, which will prevent the cancer cells from growing and multiplying.
