Product Introduction

Penatsa 500mg tablet is an anti-inflammatory medication containing the active ingredient Mesalazine, which belongs to the amino salicylate class. It is indicated for the treatment of ulcerative colitis and Crohn's ileocolitis, both forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Ulcerative colitis primarily affects the colon and rectum, causing diarrhoea and rectal bleeding. Crohn's ileocolitis involves the small intestine and colon, affecting deeper layers of the intestinal wall and resulting in abdominal pain, weight loss, and potential complications.

Do not take Penatsa 500mg tablet if you are allergic to Mesalazine, aspirin, salicylate, or any ingredient in this medicine. This medication should not be used in patients with severe kidney disease or blood abnormalities, particularly when taking other medicines such as sulphasalazine. Penatsa 500mg tablet is not suitable for children under 2 years of age.

Inform your doctor if you have a history of severe skin rash or skin peeling, blistering, or mouth ulcers. Before starting Penatsa 500mg tablet, your kidney and blood function will be assessed through appropriate tests. Your doctor will monitor your liver, kidney, and blood health periodically using blood and urine samples throughout treatment.

Penatsa 500mg tablet use may result in kidney stone formation, which can cause abdominal pain and blood in urine. Ensure adequate hydration during treatment with Penatsa 500mg tablet.
