Product Introduction

Pentasa Granules is an anti-inflammatory medicine containing mesalazine, an aminosalicylate used to treat ulcerative colitis and Crohn's ileocolitis, both inflammatory bowel diseases. Ulcerative colitis primarily inflames the colon and rectum, resulting in diarrhoea and rectal bleeding. Crohn's ileocolitis affects the small intestine and colon, involving deeper intestinal wall layers and causing abdominal pain, weight loss, and associated complications.

Do not take Pentasa Granules if you are allergic to mesalazine, aspirin, salicylates, or any ingredient in this medicine. Avoid use if you have severe kidney disease or blood abnormalities, particularly when taking other medicines such as sulphasalazine. This medicine is not suitable for children under 2 years of age.

Inform your doctor if you have a history of severe skin rash, skin peeling, blistering, or mouth sores. Before starting Pentasa Granules, your kidney and blood function will be assessed through tests. Throughout treatment, your doctor will periodically monitor your liver, kidney, and blood health using blood and urine samples.

Use of Pentasa Granules may lead to kidney stone formation, which can cause abdominal pain and blood in the urine. Maintain adequate hydration during treatment with Pentasa Granules.
