Product Introduction
Pentasa 1gm suppository is an anti-inflammatory medication containing the active ingredient Mesalazine. It belongs to the aminosalicylate class of drugs. It is indicated for the treatment of ulcerative colitis and Crohn's ileocolitis. Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's ileocolitis are inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Ulcerative colitis primarily affects the colon and rectum, causing diarrhoea and rectal bleeding. Crohn's ileocolitis affects the small intestine and colon, involving deeper layers of the intestinal wall and resulting in abdominal pain, weight loss, and complications. Do not use Pentasa 1gm suppository if you are allergic to Mesalazine, aspirin, salicylate, or any of its components. Do not use this medicine if you have severe kidney disease or blood abnormalities while taking other medicines, such as sulphasalazine. This medicine is not for use in children under 2 years of age. Inform your doctor if you have or have had a history of severe skin rash or skin peeling, blistering, and mouth ulcers. Before beginning Pentasa 1gm suppository treatment, your kidney and blood function will be assessed through laboratory tests. Your doctor will monitor your liver, kidney, and blood health periodically using blood and urine samples throughout treatment. Pentasa 1gm suppository use may lead to kidney stones, which could cause abdominal pain and blood in urine. Maintain adequate hydration during Pentasa 1gm suppository treatment.
