Pentaxim Vaccine

Pentaxim is a vaccine containing acellular diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, and Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate as active components. It provides protection for children against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, and Haemophilus influenzae type B infections. The vaccine can be administered to children from 2 months of age onwards, following the immunisation schedule and guidelines recommended by healthcare professionals. Pentaxim does not provide protection against infections caused by Haemophilus influenzae types other than type b, and does not protect against meningitis caused by other organisms. Patients with known allergies to vaccine components should be identified before administration. Healthcare providers should be informed if the child has fever, other concurrent health conditions, or blood clotting disorders prior to vaccination. The vaccine may be given simultaneously with measles-mumps-rubella vaccine or hepatitis B (recombinant) vaccine, provided they are administered at different injection sites. For premature infants, healthcare providers should be notified, as breathing difficulty may occur for 2-3 days following vaccination.

Pentaxim vaccines work by introducing an acellular or inactivated form of the microbes into the body. These acellular or inactivated strains stimulate the immune system to produce protective antibodies without causing the disease. If a vaccinated individual is later exposed to the infection, their immune system recognizes the microbes and fights against it.

Pentaxim vaccine will be administered to you by a doctor or other healthcare professional. This medicine will be given Intramuscularly. Do not self-administer the injection.
