Persinal 75IU Injection

Persinal 75IU Injection contains the active substance menotrophin. It is an ovulation stimulator belonging to the group of medications called gonadotropins. It is a highly purified mixture of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinising hormone (LH). These are natural hormones produced in both males and females. They help the reproductive organs to function normally. Persinal 75IU Injection is used to treat infertility in women who are not ovulating, including those with polycystic ovarian disease, and who have not responded to treatment with clomiphene citrate. It is also used to promote the development of multiple follicles and therefore to enhance fertility in women undergoing in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) or other types of assisted conception. It is also indicated for treatment of infertility in men due to low sperm count. Do not take Persinal 75IU Injection if you are allergic to menotrophin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. Do not take this medicine if you have a tumour in the pituitary gland (a gland located at the base of the brain which produces certain hormones, including growth hormones) or in the hypothalamus (an area located beneath the thalamus which controls bodily conditions including body temperature and blood pressure) or in the uterus, ovaries, breast, testicles, or prostate gland. Before initiating treatment, you will be assessed for underactive thyroid problems, hormone levels, and tumours of the pituitary and hypothalamus. Do not take this medicine if you have ovarian cysts not due to PCOD, vaginal bleeding, early menopause, physical abnormalities in the reproductive organs, if your womb has been removed, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform your physician immediately if you experience any of these symptoms: abdominal pain and swelling, weight gain, diarrhoea, difficulty in breathing, and decreased urination. Inform your physician if you have or have had liver problems or a history of blood clotting disease before starting treatment.

Infertility in men and women

In the absence of sufficient endogenous luteinising hormone (LH), menotrophin binds to the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSH), resulting in ovulation. It also attaches to the LH receptor, causing appropriate hormone release and treating infertility in women and men.

It will be given to you by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic setting. It is given as an intramuscular injection (into your muscles) or under the skin. Do not self-administer the Persinal 75IU Injection. Your doctor will decide the dose, route of administration and duration of the treatment based on your disease severity, body weight, and other factors.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Common side effects of Persinal 75IU Injection are: Abdominal pain or swelling Headache Nausea Pelvic pain Overstimulation of ovaries Pain or inflammation at the injection site Mood swings Serious side effects of Persinal 75IU Injection are: Severe allergic reactions (hypersensitivity reactions)

If you have missed any dosing appointments, inform your doctor and schedule immediately. This medicine can increase your risk of ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside of the womb) if you have a history of fallopian tube disease, miscarriage, multiple pregnancies (twins and triplets), and birth defects in the baby. Your doctor will regularly perform ultrasound scans and blood tests to monitor your response to the treatment.
