Product Introduction

Pexitaz 500mg injection is an anticancer medicine containing pemetrexed as its active ingredient. It belongs to the antifolate agent class of medications. It is indicated for treating non-small cell lung cancer and malignant pleural mesothelioma, which are cancers of the lungs and chest. This medicine may be administered as monotherapy or in combination with another anticancer agent, such as cisplatin. Your doctor may prescribe corticosteroids, folic acid, and vitamin B12 to mitigate side effects. Blood tests will be conducted before each infusion to assess kidney and liver function adequacy and to ensure adequate blood cell counts prior to administering this medicine.

Before commencing treatment with Pexitaz 500mg injection, it is essential to inform your physician of any current or previous medical conditions including kidney problems, heart disorders, or fluid accumulation in the lungs. Advise your doctor if you have recently undergone or are currently undergoing radiotherapy or vaccination prior to taking this medication. Notify your doctor immediately if you are planning pregnancy or suspect you may be pregnant. Use effective contraception during treatment and for at least six months after the final dose of Pexitaz 500mg injection. In men, it is recommended to avoid fathering a child during treatment and for up to 3 months after completion. It is advised to discuss fertility concerns with your doctor. This medication is not recommended for adolescents and children below 18 years of age.

How it works

Pexitaz 500mg inhibits the mechanism required for cell division and replication by blocking specific enzymes involved in folate metabolism (essential for cell replication) and DNA synthesis, which will prevent the cancer cells from growing and multiplying.

How to Use

Pexitaz 500mg injection is administered as an intravenous infusion into the vein. If this injection is recommended for you, it will be given by a healthcare professional. Do not self-administer. Your physician will choose the dosage and administration frequency based on the medical condition because it differs for each person.

Side Effects

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Discuss your fertility problem with the doctor since, in men, it is advised not to father a child during and after the 3 months of treatment. So it is advised to get suggestions about fertility concerns. Avoid planning for the pregnancy. If you experience any symptoms mentioned as a side effect, consult your doctor immediately. Notify your doctor immediately if you have undergone any radiotherapy or taken any vaccines and other medications before starting with Pexitaz 500mg because it might reduce the effectiveness of this medicine and may cause side effects. Inform your doctor if you have or had any history of heart disease, kidney problems,s or liver problems.

Lungs: Consult your doctor Consult your doctor if you experience any symptoms like; shortness of breath, blockage, or inflammation in the lining of the lung while taking Pexitaz 500mg.

Breastfeeding: unsafe It is unsafe to breastfeed while taking Pexitaz 500mg because it can cause toxicity to the baby. If you are breastfeeding a baby, it has to be discontinued. Please consult your physician for more advice.
