Product Introduction

Picasa Syrup is an azole antifungal medication containing posaconazole. It is used to treat and prevent certain fungal infections. The medication is commonly prescribed for preventing and treating invasive fungal infections in patients with weakened immune systems, such as those undergoing cancer chemotherapy, stem cell transplantation, or those with HIV/AIDS. It also treats certain fungal infections in patients who cannot tolerate or have not responded to other antifungal treatments.

Picasa Syrup is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to other azole antifungal medications such as ketoconazole, fluconazole, itraconazole, or voriconazole.

Before taking Picasa Syrup, inform your doctor if you have certain cardiac conditions including abnormal heart rhythm (long QTc interval), cardiac muscle weakness, heart failure, or any rhythm disturbances. Similarly, inform your doctor if you have severe kidney problems. If you experience diarrhoea or vomiting while on treatment with this drug, inform your physician immediately, as these conditions may affect the medicine's effectiveness.

Picasa Syrup may alter blood levels of potassium, magnesium, or calcium. If you have electrolyte level abnormalities, your doctor will monitor you closely during treatment.

If you are taking vinca alkaloid medications such as vincristine or vinblastine used to treat cancer, inform your physician before starting treatment.

If you are pregnant, use this drug only if your doctor advises. Use while breastfeeding may be unsafe as the drug passes into breast milk and affects the child. Do not breastfeed while taking this medicine.

Uses

Treatment of fungal infections

How it works

Picasa Syrup works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane. This disruption weakens the membrane, leading to cell death, and effectively treats fungal infections.

How to Use

It is necessary to take the syrup as directed by the physician. Shake the Picasa Syrup well before use. Do not freeze and any syrup left in a bottle more than four weeks after it was first opened should not be used.
