Pilomax 5mg Tablet

Pilomax 5mg is a parasympathomimetic agent containing the active ingredient Pilocarpine. It is used to treat xerostomia (dry mouth) following radiotherapy for head or neck cancer. It is also indicated for xerostomia and xerophthalmia in patients with Sjogren's syndrome.

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Pilocarpine or any other ingredient in this formulation, or if you have uncontrolled asthma, cardiac disorders (heart failure or irregular pulse), renal disorders (renal insufficiency or kidney stones), acute iris inflammation, or any chronic disease.

This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Before beginning treatment, inform your doctor if you have lung-related problems (chronic pulmonary disease, chronic bronchitis), bile duct disorders, gastrointestinal problems, cognitive or mental health conditions, or ocular problems. Your doctor may perform an eye examination before starting treatment; notify your doctor if you have not had a recent eye check-up.

Inform your healthcare professional if you have any liver disorder (cirrhosis), as your doctor will initiate treatment at a low dose and adjust based on your response.

Before starting Pilomax 5mg, inform your doctor if you are attempting to conceive or are already pregnant. Use effective contraception during treatment to prevent unintended pregnancy.

Treatment of dry eyes and dry mouth

Pilomax 5mg stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system's activity, which controls many bodily functions. By activating cholinergic receptors, Pilomax 5mg increases the production and secretion of saliva, tears, and sweat.

Swallow the Pilomax 5mg tablet with water during or directly after meals. Do not crush, bite, or chew. Your physician will decide the accurate frequency and duration of this treatment by monitoring your progress.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Do not stop Pilomax 5mg unless your doctor tells you. If no improvement is noted, your physician may discontinue the therapy. Your doctor will adjust the dosage based on the response to the treatment. This medicine may cause impaired fertility in both men and women; discuss with your doctor for more fertility concerns. Use effective contraception to avoid pregnancy. Before starting the treatment, inform your doctor if you take any other medicine. If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor immediately.
