Product Introduction
Piraxit 4.5gm injection contains two active ingredients: Piperacillin and Tazobactam, which are broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotics and beta-lactamase inhibitors. Piperacillin with Tazobactam is effective against many types of harmful bacteria. When combined, Tazobactam enhances Piperacillin's effectiveness against certain resistant bacteria. This medicine is indicated for bacterial infections in the lower respiratory tract, urinary tract, abdomen, skin, or blood in adults and adolescents. Piraxit 4.5gm injection is also used in children aged 2-12 years for bacterial infections, particularly abdominal infections such as appendicitis, peritonitis, and gallbladder infections. It is additionally used in patients with low white blood cell counts and in patients with compromised immune systems. In serious infections, doctors may prescribe it alongside other antibiotics. This medicine should not be used in children under 2 years of age due to insufficient safety and efficacy data in this age group. Do not use Piraxit 4.5gm injection if you are allergic to Piperacillin, Tazobactam, penicillins, cephalosporins, other beta-lactamase inhibitors, or any other ingredients in the formulation. Before treatment, inform your doctor if you have low potassium levels, liver or kidney disease, or require hemodialysis. Regular blood tests may be conducted during treatment. If you are taking anticoagulants or experience unexpected bleeding, inform your healthcare professional immediately. Notify your healthcare professional if you develop convulsions or suspect new or worsening infection during treatment. Be aware of haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, a condition involving excessive white blood cell production; contact your doctor immediately if you experience fever, swollen glands, weakness, lightheadedness, shortness of breath, bruising, or skin rash. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
Uses
Treats bacterial infection.
How it works
Piperacillin acts as an antibiotic by stopping the formation of the protective covering in bacteria, which is essential for survival. Tazobactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor, which helps reduce bacterial resistance and boosts the effectiveness of Piperacillin against bacteria.
