Product Introduction
Pneumovax 23 Vaccine is a pneumococcal vaccine indicated to prevent disease in children aged 6 weeks to 17 years and adults aged 18 years and older. This injection protects against meningitis (inflammation of the brain and spinal cord membranes), sepsis or bacteremia (bacteria in the bloodstream), pneumonia (lung infection), and otitis media caused by 13 different types of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria. It works by stimulating the body to produce antibodies against these pathogens.
Do not use Pneumovax 23 Vaccine if you have an allergy to pneumococcal vaccine or any ingredient in this medicine, or to any vaccine containing diphtheria toxoid. Do not use if you have a severe acute infection with fever exceeding 38°C.
Before administration, inform your doctor of current and past medical conditions, respiratory problems, bleeding disorders, or bruising conditions. Notify your doctor if you have immunosuppression (weakened immune system) or a history of seizures. If your child was born prematurely (at or before 28 weeks of gestation), inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, suspect pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
This vaccine must be administered by a qualified healthcare provider and should not be self-administered.
