Potmeg SF Oral Solution 200ml contains Potassium Chloride, an active ingredient belonging to the class of electrolyte replacement solutions. Electrolytes are chemicals and salts present in bodily fluids. This medicine is used to treat and prevent hypokalemia, a condition characterised by low potassium levels in the blood.
Do not use this medicine if you have an allergy to Potassium Chloride or any of its ingredients. Avoid use in patients with hyperkalemia (elevated blood potassium levels), impaired kidney function, Addison's disease, severe dehydration, heat cramps, or hyperchloraemia (abnormally elevated chloride levels in the blood).
Inform your doctor before starting treatment if you have heart disease or have recently sustained a severe skin injury such as a burn. Continuous ECG (electrocardiogram) monitoring is essential during administration of this medicine to assess cardiac activity.
Common side effects include tingling or unusual sensations, muscle weakness or loss of movement, irregular heartbeats or heart attack, elevated potassium levels in the blood, low blood pressure with dizziness, pain at the injection site, and inflammation of the injected vein.
