Product Introduction
Praxbind 2.5gm injection is an antidote containing the active ingredient idarucizumab. It is a monoclonal antibody fragment that reverses the anticoagulant effects of dabigatran. Dabigatran is a direct thrombin inhibitor used to prevent blood clot formation by targeting thrombin. Idarucizumab rapidly binds to dabigatran and its metabolites, reversing anticoagulation and restoring normal coagulation function. This medicine is used in adults for rapid reversal of dabigatran in emergency situations, including perioperative settings and life-threatening bleeding events. Anticoagulant therapies are used to prevent and treat thromboembolic events in conditions such as atrial fibrillation and venous thromboembolism.
Do not use Praxbind 2.5gm injection if you are allergic to idarucizumab or any component of the formulation. Before treatment, inform your doctor if you have hereditary fructose intolerance, as the product contains sorbitol. Your physician will evaluate this information prior to administration. Safety and efficacy in paediatric patients have not been established. Each dose contains 50 mg of sodium; if you follow a sodium-restricted diet, inform your doctor before starting treatment. Notify your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, as information on use in these populations is limited.
Uses
The reversal of anticoagulant effects is needed in: Emergency or urgent surgical procedures Life-threatening or uncontrolled bleeding
How it works
Praxbind 2.5gm injection works by binding tightly to dabigatran, the blood thinner medicine. This binding neutralizes the effects of dabigatran, allowing the blood to clot normally. It acts as a rapid antidote, quickly reversing the blood-thinning effects of dabigatran in emergencies.
How to Use
Praxbind 2.5gm injection will be administered to you by a healthcare professional in a hospital setting. It is usually administered in the vein. Your doctor will decide the dose, route of administration, and frequency based on your disease condition and other factors.
Side Effects
Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all medicines cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Praxbind 2.5gm injection is generally safe to consume and is not associated with significant side effects. However, if you experience any unfamiliar side effects, consult your dietician for advice.
Expert Tips
Note that this medicine eliminates Dabigatran from your system but does not affect other clot-preventing medications. After Dabigatran removal, you will still need blood clot prevention treatment based on your health condition. Follow the prescribed dosage and administration instructions provided by your healthcare professional. Inform your doctor about any known allergies or medical conditions you have before receiving Praxbind 2.5gm injection. If you notice any unexpected or severe side effects, such as difficulty breathing or an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention. Inform your healthcare professional about any other medications or supplements you are consuming to avoid potential drug interactions.
