Proteoz 2mg Injection

Proteoz 2mg Injection is a chemotherapy medication that belongs to the class of proteasome inhibitors. It contains the active ingredient Bortezomib. It is indicated for the treatment of multiple myeloma and mantle cell lymphoma. Multiple myeloma refers to malignant progression of plasma cells in the bone marrow. Mantle cell lymphoma is a less common cancer affecting the lymph nodes. This medication is used concurrently with other chemotherapy medicines including pegylated liposomal doxorubicin, rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, dexamethasone, prednisolone, or thalidomide in patients with newly diagnosed disease who are ineligible for blood stem cell transplant. Common side effects associated with Proteoz 2mg Injection include pneumonia, loss of appetite, sensory changes including tingling and burning sensation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, mouth ulcers, constipation, muscle and bone pain, hair loss, fever, infections, itching, redness, dehydration, and gastrointestinal problems. Inform your physician if these side effects occur or persist. Inform your doctor of any allergy to Proteoz 2mg Injection or its ingredients. Do not use this medication if you have severe lung or cardiac problems. Before starting treatment, inform your physician if you have neuropathy (nerve malfunction), cardiac disorders, severe lung problems, pulmonary disorders, posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome, gastrointestinal disorders, thrombocytopenia (low platelet count), neutropenia (low white blood cell count), tumour lysis syndrome (metabolic abnormalities occurring during cancer treatment), or hepatic disorders. Inform your doctor if you have diabetes, as this injection can affect blood glucose levels.

Treatment of multiple myeloma and mantle cell lymphoma.

Proteoz 2mg Injection Injection works by exerting a toxic effect on cancer cells. It inhibits the 26S proteasome and blocks a major cell signaling pathway. This inhibition of the signaling pathway makes the cancer cells sensitive to chemotherapy. This medicine also enhances the build-up of a protein and minimizes cancer cell growth and multiplication.

Proteoz 2mg Injection is administered intravenously in your vein or subcutaneously under the skin. This injection should be given by a qualified healthcare professional experienced in the use of cytotoxic medications. Do not self-administer.

It is advised that both men and women must use an effective contraception method during treatment and three months afterward. Treatment with Proteoz 2mg Injection can commonly cause a decrease in the number of red and white blood cells and platelets in your blood. Therefore, you will have to take regular blood tests before and during your treatment with bortezomib to check your blood cell counts regularly. Pregnant women should not handle this Injection as it contains cytotoxic agents. Using gloves and protective clothing is recommended to prevent skin contact.
