Product Introduction
Pulmosil 10mg Injection contains sildenafil as its active component. This medication is indicated for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in adults and children. PAH is characterised by elevated blood pressure in the arteries supplying blood from the heart to the lungs. Sildenafil belongs to a class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) inhibitors, which includes agents such as Viagra (sildenafil) used for erectile dysfunction. Patients with PAH commonly present with dyspnoea and reduced exercise tolerance resulting from increased pulmonary arterial pressure. Pulmosil 10mg Injection improves exercise capacity by reducing strain on the heart and lungs, enabling patients with PAH to undertake physical activities with greater ease. PAH is a chronic condition that can substantially affect daily functioning and quality of life. By managing disease symptoms and progression, this medication can improve quality of life for patients with PAH. It is among the limited medications approved for paediatric PAH, representing an important therapeutic option for children with this condition. Pulmosil 10mg Injection can cause transient reduction in blood pressure, particularly when combined with other antihypertensive agents or in patients with underlying hypotension. Caution is advised in patients with hypotension. Pre-existing cardiac conditions must be disclosed to the healthcare provider prior to initiating treatment. Patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment may require dose modification or close monitoring during therapy. Pulmosil 10mg Injection is contraindicated with concurrent use of nitrates (nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate) or other medications containing nitric oxide donors, as this combination may cause severe hypotension.
