Product Introduction
Pulmovax 23 is a pneumococcal vaccine used to prevent disease in children aged 6 weeks to 17 years and adults aged 18 years and older. This injection protects against meningitis (inflammation around the brain and spinal cord), sepsis or bacteremia (bacteria in the bloodstream), pneumonia (lung infection), and ear infection caused by 13 different types of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria. It works by prompting the body to produce antibodies that protect against disease.
Do not use Pulmovax 23 if you are allergic to pneumococcal vaccine or any other ingredients in this medicine, or to any other vaccine containing diphtheria toxoid. Do not use it if you have a severe infection with a fever over 38°C.
Before receiving this vaccine, inform your doctor about current and past medical conditions, breathing problems, bleeding and bruising disorders. Notify your doctor if you have low resistance to infection, a weakened immune system, or seizures. Inform your doctor if your child was born prematurely (at or before 28 weeks of gestation). Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, suspect you may be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
Pulmovax 23 must be administered by a trained healthcare professional and should not be self-administered.
