Puregraf 225IU Injection PFS

Puregraf 225IU Injection PFS contains menotrophin as its active substance. It is an ovulation stimulator belonging to the group of medications called gonadotropins. It is a highly purified mixture of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinising hormone (LH). These are natural hormones produced in both males and females that help the reproductive organs to function normally. Puregraf 225IU Injection PFS is used to treat infertility in women who are not ovulating, including those with polycystic ovarian disease, and who have not responded to treatment with clomiphene citrate. It is also used to stimulate multiple follicles and promote fertility in women undergoing IVF (in-vitro fertilisation) or other assisted conception procedures. It is also indicated to treat infertility in men due to low sperm count. Do not take Puregraf 225IU Injection PFS if you are allergic to menotrophin or any other ingredients of this medicine. Do not take this medicine if you have a tumour in the pituitary gland (a gland located at the base of the brain which produces certain hormones, including growth hormones) or in the hypothalamus (an area located beneath the thalamus which controls body conditions including temperature and blood pressure) or in the uterus, ovaries, breast, testicles, or prostate gland. Before starting treatment, you will be evaluated for underactive thyroid problems, hormone levels, and tumours of the pituitary and hypothalamus. Do not take this medicine if you have ovarian cysts not due to PCOD, vaginal bleeding, early menopause, physical problems in the reproductive organs, if your womb has been removed, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform your physician immediately if you experience abdominal pain and swelling, weight gain, diarrhoea, difficulty in breathing, or decreased urination. Inform your physician if you have or have had liver problems or a history of blood clotting disease before starting treatment.

Infertility in men and women

In the absence of sufficient endogenous luteinising hormone (LH), menotrophin binds to the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSH), resulting in ovulation. It also attaches to the LH receptor, causing appropriate hormone release and treating infertility in women and men.

It will be given to you by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic setting. It is given as an intramuscular injection (into your muscles) or under the skin. Do not self-administer the injection. Your doctor will decide the dose, route of administration and duration of the treatment based on your disease severity, body weight, and other factors.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Common side effects of Puregraf 225IU Injection PFS are: Abdominal pain or swelling Headache Nausea Pelvic pain Overstimulation of ovaries Pain or inflammation at the injection site Mood swings Serious side effects of Puregraf 225IU Injection PFS are: Severe allergic reactions (hypersensitivity reactions)

If you have missed any dosing appointments, inform your doctor and schedule immediately. This medicine can increase your risk of ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside of the womb) if you have a history of fallopian tube disease, miscarriage, multiple pregnancies (twins and triplets), and birth defects in the baby. Your doctor will regularly perform ultrasound scans and blood tests to monitor your response to the treatment.
