Ranivue Injection

Ranivue Injection contains the active ingredient Ranibizumab, an anti-neovascularisation agent belonging to the class of vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) antagonists. It is used in adults to treat several eye diseases that cause vision impairment. Ranivue Injection is used to treat wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a persistent eye disease characterised by loss of central vision that may make reading, driving, or performing daily activities more difficult. It is also used to treat myopic choroidal neovascularisation (mCNV), a complication in near-sighted individuals where new blood vessels grow in the back of the eye, and to treat macular oedema following retinal vein occlusion, an eye disease caused by blockage of blood flow from the eye leading to blurry vision and vision loss. Ranivue Injection is additionally used to treat diabetic macular oedema, an eye disease caused by diabetes that can lead to vision loss, and diabetic retinopathy, damage to the eyes caused by diabetes.

Do not use Ranivue Injection if you are allergic to Ranibizumab or other ingredients in this medicine. Do not use this medicine if you have an infection in or around your eye, or if you have eye pain or redness. Inform your doctor immediately if you develop symptoms such as eye pain or increased discomfort, worsening eye redness, blurred or decreased vision, an increased number of small particles in your vision, or increased sensitivity to light. Inform your doctor if you have a prior history of eye conditions or eye treatments, or if you had a stroke before initiating treatment.

Ranivue Injection is used to treat several eye diseases causing vision impairment, including, Age-related macular degeneration Macular edema Diabetic macular edema and retinopathy Myopic choroidal neovascularisation Retinal vein occlusion.

Ranivue Injection specifically recognises and binds to a protein called human vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) present in the eye. In excess, VEGF-A causes abnormal blood vessel growth and swelling in the eye, leading to impairment of vision in certain eye diseases. This medicine can block its actions and prevent this abnormal growth and swelling. This injection can help to stabilise and improve your vision.

Side effects are unwanted symptoms caused by medicines. Even though all drugs cause side effects, not everyone gets them. Common Pain and swelling in the eye Bleeding in the eye Blurred vision Urinary tract infection Skin rashes Discharge from the eye Serious Tear of the layer in the back of the eye Flashes of light in the eye Temporary loss of sight Clouding of lens Infection of the eyeball.

Not recommended for children or teens – Ranivue Injection should not be used in individuals below 18 years of age due to a lack of safety data. Elderly patients may need dose adjustments – People over 65 can use this injection but may require modified doses based on their health condition. Seek immediate help for eye symptoms – If your eye becomes red, painful, sensitive to light, or if your vision changes, consult an eye doctor right away. Follow-up is important – Your doctor will monitor your eye and decide if further injections are needed based on how well you're responding. Stick to your doctor’s advice – Do not skip or delay your injections. Follow all medical instructions carefully for the best outcome.
